Charlie began singing professionally as a Salisbury Cathedral Chorister, receiving a first-class musical education at the associated Cathedral School between the ages of 8 and 13 under the tutelage of Hilary Llystyn Jones. He went on to earn a major music scholarship to Bedales School in Hampshire where he continued his singing training with Philip Guy Bromley. During this period, he was selected to sing at the prestigious Edington Festival of Music and in The Boys Air Choir. Upon leaving school, Charlie was awarded a choral scholarship at Gloucester Cathedral, singing in the Cathedral Choir, Cathedral Youth Choir and St Cecilia Singers, also performing with the BBC National Chorus of Wales during this time Charlie then spent five years as a Choral Scholar at Exeter Cathedral; receiving lessons from Jonathan Peter Kenny, regularly singing with Exeter based chamber ensembles Counterpoint and Antiphon, as well as becoming permanent Lay Clerk with the choir at Buckfast Abbey. In 2015 Charlie deputised for the choir of St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast, during their tour to France, following which he was offered a full time Lay Clerkship in Northern Ireland.
In more recent years Charlie has been singing as a full-time tenor Lay Clerk at St Albans Abbey, coached by London based and internationally renowned singing teacher Gary Coward.

To date, Charlie’s continued commitment to the Edington Festival of Music (where he is a key member of the Schola Cantorum) is approaching its fifteenth year.
Throughout his career Charlie has continued to develop his performance skills by singing a broad range of styles and challenging repertoire ranging from Gregorian chant and renaissance polyphony through to modern classical and popular music. As such he has
developed exceptional sight-reading skills and regularly sings in numerous languages including French, German, Latin, Portuguese, Russian and most recently, Maori. As a technician Charlie has proven methods to maintain good vocal health and singing stamina, be that in the form of delivering daily services, preparing for large scale concerts (such as at the BBC Proms and Three Choirs Festival), numerous recordings and performing in choir tours both nationally and internationally, having toured to Brazil, Sweden, Austria and many more.
Having returned to the North West of Ireland in 2022 Charlie is seeking opportunities to engage with the choral community locally, nationally and further afield. He is deeply committed to creating work of the highest quality and show-casing a wide range of diverse and exciting repertoire. Down to earth and friendly, Charlie is keen to invest in the next generation of singers by sharing the skills and training he's been fortunate to receive and he is honoured to be invited to perform at some of the most meaningful and sacred moments of our lives, celebrating life and love.
